Praise and worship to God nourish our spirit to be more alive. Our great love for Him, shown in religious services as well as in speaking in honor of Him, gives way to the continuous fire of life in our soul. What happens then when we go astray and feel-like we are not welcome in His Kingdom? What if we are in a midst of turmoil, weakened, and out of love? How are we going to surpass all of these to continue serving Him in good faith?
Spritual Dryness by Dok Man
by Joseph Nepomuceno
Spiritual dryness is a weakness of a soul, the lack of passion and energy to serve due to discouragements and failures in life which often happens to some members of the community. A marked change in the way of participation seems obvious enough to those who are slowly declining in spirit, enveloped with pessimistic ideas of life including their own selves, shattering the great love for God within them. Subsequently, diverted focus to the negative aspects made good things vague in their visions. At times of confusion, weakness, and out of feeling love, we tend to forget what faith is.
Abundance of blessings showered upon us must wash away all our doubts, clear our visions for the wonders and gifts of life, and strengthen our spirit in order to serve Him with delight. Blessings should never be a question despite the hardships and chaos that we encounter every day. The mere fact that we are alive and breathing gives us no reason to stumble down while cursing ourselves for our misfortunes. In addition, given the chance daily to experience the joy that life could offer is already a blessing indeed. When we stumble, we can always ask help from our family and friends, above all to the Almighty One. For instances that we feel-like we are not welcomed by some people in the community we are in, just focus on God. Remember that the essence of our service is not for those uncomplimentary people but for the Lord. Nobody has the right to condemn us for we are all sinners and God gives us the chance to stand in the glory of His name.
Moreover, I think everyone experiences spiritual dryness or distress at some point of their service to God. However, if we truly believe in Him, nothing and no one could ever stop us from serving. To worship God may be expressed in so many ways not only in the community but also in our own simple purpose of living. The key to keep the spirit in Him is to have God as the center of our lives and that means doing good and avoiding evil!
