GK urges SIGA to Models
by Anne Jayme
In a day of celebration for SIGA youth, a thousand young ones (aged 13 and above) from GK villages in Metro Manila and nearby provinces
joined together to celebrate their day. Themed "Huwarang Kabataan" (Model Youth), the Araw ng mga SIGA celebrated the empowerment
of GK youth, honored excellence, and encouraged them to be a force of change.

Gawad Kalinga’s Tony Meloto inspired the youth, challenging: "Are you ready to help the country?" and affirming, "You are the future of our
nation!" GK1MB’s Kirby Llaban further encouraged the youth to see their vocation not only as the future, but also the hope of the Philippines.

Creative competitions showcased the abundant talent in dance, bands, freestyle rapping, a product exhibition, quiz bee, games, and the
solo-singing SIGA Idol.

When many youth are searching for identity, the future for the SIGA youth is bright, surrounded as they are by admirable role models in GK
volunteers and caretakers helping them reach their true potential. Two Outstanding SIGA members were honored during the event:
Kenneth Cruz as Most Outstanding Siga President and Lorie Provido as Senior Sister of the Year.

Meanwhile, Joan Enriquez De Jesus was recognized as the Most Outstanding SIGA facilitator; Nick Jun Gardenas, Most Outstanding Program Manager; and GK Buwayang Bato, as the Most Outstanding Caretaker team. The day concluded with an exuberant band fest and praise fest, SIGA youth declaring faith in a God who has never abandoned them through the many challenges of their young lives.

The vitality of the SIGA, rooted in faith, will be a force of change in the GK movement.
